![]() The following day or two, I felt my ear hurting again, with similar feelings of blockage, but it seemed to resolve by Thursday. I was cautious to avoid reverse blockage coming back up, but definitely heard some squeaking. On this dive my bad ear felt a little slow, but equalized OK. The following week, my ear mostly felt normal aside from a little irritation, and conditions were good so I decided to dive again that weekend (14 days out). By Sunday (7 days out) I was feeling pretty much normal again. Through the week, I felt a good bit of fatigue as well. It read exactly like googled descriptions of middle ear barotrauma. 3 or 4 times during that session, I equalized late and felt some pain.Ī few days after that dive, I started getting pain and congestion in my ear. I cleared well for the deeper dives, but we spent the last 2 hours hunting some rockfish in ~8 feet of water, and I found myself forgetting to equalize as I chased fish around on the bottom. It started after a 5 hour Sunday dive (maybe 50 up-downs). ![]() My plan going forward is to actually not dive until it's healed, but IDK how long that might be. I also live in a city and sleep with earplugs, which I know might be making things worse. I saw a doctor (general practitioner) and he said he didn't think it was infected or a perforated eardrum and proscribed me some drops and Sudafed, but I'm concerned about the continued ringing and pain. I'd love to hear folks' thoughts on their experiences with ear injuries/what they think I should do. I've had on-and-off pain, ringing, and congestion in my right ear for about 5 weeks now. I know this is a long personal story, but hopefully it can be a good reference for folks with similar questions. My experience with an ongoing ear injury/issue, asking for advice/experiences/opinions.
